Mlima Cottage is a welcoming private residence nestled in the heart of the Maasai Mara. Originally built as a filmmaker’s getaway and still overseen by the owners, Mlima sits in a prime location for wildlife viewing, close to renowned lion and leopard territory and in the path of the spectacular Great Migration.
Our Cottage, Your Home
Family-owned and operated, Mlima Cottage offers comfort, seclusion, exclusivity and a fantastic safari experience.
The property is designed for photographers, filmmakers, small groups or families who want the privacy of their own home while on safari in Kenya.
Mlima Cottage is fully staffed with a dedicated team including a personal chef, house manager, room steward and safari guide.
Eco-Friendly
Our property is eco-friendly, operating on solar power and rainwater.
We are committed to supporting the local community, and source fresh, organic and seasonal produce from Maasai farmers. As a result, our menu is predominantly vegetarian, however we are happy to provide meat at the request of guests.
We employ local Maasai staff at the cottage and on safari, and give a portion of the cost of every guest’s stay to the indigenous landowners, offering Maasai families a tangible incentive to protect Kenya’s beautiful flora and fauna.
Our non-profit Mlima Foundation has been established to financially support the local school, medical centre and community needs.

The King Suite is 50m2 with a king bed and ensuite. The suite has private access and a private lounge which opens onto the veranda, offering views of the savannah. Free Wifi.

The Family Suite is 50m2 with a king bed, ensuite and up to 3 single beds. It has private access and opens onto the verandah, with views of the savannah. Free Wifi.
The Cottage can be further reconfigured to suit different sized groups, at request.

Our Location
We are located along the north west edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The closest airstrip is Mara Musiara airstrip, which is around 30 minutes drive from the Cottage. Alternatively, you can drive from Nairobi to Musiara Gate, which is around six hours. We can help organise all your Nairobi transfers and domestic flights.
